Program
Welcome to Sapri
Welcome to Sapri, an authentic crossroads of peoples, cultures, and traditions. Overlooking the Gulf of Policastro, the southernmost corner of Campania before Basilicata, this elegant seaside town boasts a millennia-old history: from its Greek origins to its role as a thriving commercial hub, and later as a renowned holiday destination thanks to its mild climate—so delightful that Cicero famously described it as “the little gem of the Southern sea.”
Along the coastline stands the iconic Statue of the Spigolatrice, a powerful symbol of local identity. Inland, archaeological remains, historic watchtowers, and the Obelisk dedicated to Carlo Pisacane tell important chapters of Sapri’s past.
Meet your tour leader and enjoy a welcome dinner to kick off your cycling adventure.
From Sapri to Morigerati
35km, +900m –600m
Get ready to saddle up: an unforgettable cycling holiday in the heart of the Cilento National Park awaits.
After an energizing breakfast, we leave Sapri behind and begin our ascent, surrounded by endless shades of green from the Cilento forests. The rhythm of pedaling soon becomes natural, guided by silence, woodland scents, and breathtaking views that reward every effort.
We pass through Torraca and reach Tortorella, a medieval hilltop village where stone streets whisper ancient stories and time seems to slow down. Continuing towards Casaletto Spartano, a detour leads us to the enchanting Capelli di Venere Waterfalls Oasis—a magical setting of crystal-clear water, ferns, and moss, perfect for a refreshing break.
The final stretch brings us to Morigerati, where a well-deserved rest awaits after a full day of cycling, nature, and shared moments.
From Morigerati to Marina di Camerota
45km, +950m –1200m
After visiting the WWF Oasis of the Bussento Caves, we get back on our bikes and ride towards Sicilì, stopping in the village square for a great Italian coffee. From here, the road gently descends, leading us toward the deep blue of the Mediterranean.
We reach Scario, with its charming seafront and lighthouse overlooking Tragara Beach. Cycling along the spectacular coastal road that skirts the Protected Marine Area of Costa degli Infreschi and Masseta, one of the wildest and most unspoiled stretches of the Cilento coast, we arrive in Marina di Camerota.
In the afternoon, optional activities include a walk along coastal trails or a boat trip to Cala Bianca, a stunning beach accessible only by sea or scenic hiking paths.
From Marina di Camerota to Casal Velino
40km, +500m –600m
Today’s ride largely follows the ancient route once taken by pilgrims heading to the sacred mountain of Cilento: Monte Gelbison. This is one of the longest yet most evocative stages of the entire journey.
From the summit of the Sacred Mountain, your gaze sweeps across dense, enchanting vegetation and—on clear days—reaches as far as Stromboli, rising dramatically from the Aeolian Islands. The panorama unfolds in a breathtaking 360-degree view from north to south.
Vast wheat fields welcome us to Rofrano, offering a glimpse into local traditions where bread-making is still a sacred ritual. Even today, local bakeries fill the air with the irresistible aroma of wood-fired, homemade bread.
Monte Stella Loop Ride
50km, +900m –900m
A demanding yet panoramic stage that takes us from the sea into the heart of ancient Cilento. Starting from Casal Velino, we climb through centuries-old olive groves and terraced vineyards, reaching the slopes of Monte Stella, the spiritual and geographical heart of the region.
The route winds through chestnut forests, sunlit clearings, and charming villages rich in history: San Mango, Sessa Cilento, Omignano, Stella Cilento, Guarrazzano, San Giovanni, and Galdo. A true journey through time, among monasteries, stone mills, and authentic rural life.
Return to Casal Velino for overnight stay.
From Casal Velino to Paestum
55km, +600m –600m
We depart from Casal Velino Marina, cycling along the stunning Cilento coastline.
Our first stop is Pioppi, a traditional fishing village, with the option to visit the Sea Museum. Continuing north, we reach Acciaroli, famous for hosting Ernest Hemingway during the early 1950s.
A short climb takes us to the evocative “red hills”, then we ride past Punta Licosa, a headland steeped in the myth of the siren Leucosia. We continue through San Marco and Santa Maria di Castellabate, surrounded by olive groves, Mediterranean scrub, and open sea views.
In the late afternoon, we arrive in Paestum, where sunset illuminates the majestic Doric temples, ancient walls, and the remains of one of the most important cities of Magna Graecia.
Farewell Paestum
After breakfast, the tour comes to an end.
Before leaving Paestum, one last tip: don’t go home without a buffalo mozzarella from Campania in your backpack. Fresh, authentic, and unforgettable—it’s the perfect souvenir to carry the taste of Cilento all the way back home.
