Let yourself be enchanted by the simplicity of Spoleto, with its slow pace and a horizon shaped by the majesty of its monuments and the unspoiled nature that surrounds it.

From Spoleto to Campello Alto
19km, +657 m, -550 m
Begin your journey today along the Way of Saint Francis, a spiritual path through the places dear to the patron saint of Italy. Accompanied by the beauty of olive groves covering the Umbrian hills, you will cross silent landscapes in a perfect balance between history and spirituality.
You will continue along secondary roads, surrounded by ancient oaks that offer their precious shade.
You will arrive in Campello Alto, an ancient village nestled among the hills, where you can rejuvenate both body and mind. Here, time seems to flow more slowly. Life in the village is still tied to the rhythms of the surrounding countryside—an invitation to rediscover the deep connection between humanity and nature.
From Campello Alto to Trevi
10 km, +260 m, -337 m
After a delicious breakfast, you will immerse yourselves in the countryside around the town of Trevi. In one of the best-preserved areas in the heart of Umbria, you can take a break beside the dry-stone walls—an ideal moment to recharge before a short climb that will lead you to discover the Franciscan Hermitage of the Larks, where legend says Francis once passed.
The scents and flavors of nature will accompany you all the way to Trevi, a charming town overlooking the classic Umbrian landscape. To fully appreciate the history and traditions of this place, we recommend visiting the Museum of Olive Oil Civilization, housed within the San Francesco Museum Complex.
From Trevi to Foligno
13 km, +118 m, -297 m
Leaving the historic center of Trevi behind, you will धीरे descend into the valley along the characteristic olive terraces. At the crossroads, charming roadside shrines will symbolically guide you toward Assisi.
In a short time, you will reach Porta Romana, marking your arrival in Foligno. The elegant Corso Cavour will lead you to the main square, where you can admire the charm of the Cathedral of San Feliciano. Here, a plaque recalls when a young Francis—still a merchant—restored the Church of San Damiano using the proceeds from selling his father’s fabrics right in this very place.
From Foligno to Assisi
20km, +410 m, -270 m
The big day of your arrival in Assisi has come, but the surrounding landscape invites you to slow your pace and fully enjoy the journey. From the Cathedral of Foligno, you will reach the Church of San Giacomo, the patron saint of pilgrims, located in the square of the same name. From here, the route winds along secondary roads that will lead you to Spello.
After passing through the monumental Porta Consolare, this enchanting town will welcome you with its refined flower-lined alleys and its still clearly visible Roman soul. Leave Spello through Porta Montanara and reach the slopes of Mount Subasio by following the Olive Tree Path.
Here you are, Assisi has been reached! After a short climb, you will first arrive at the Basilica of Saint Francis.
